Cambodia: Phnom Penh (Arrival)

History in the making- the 1st NUS Capoeira travel trip!
Not forgetting it’s Nithiya & Derrick’s grad trip b4 they embark upon their career

At Changi Airport, Ms Ling, a friendly Cambodian lady, approached us to help group check in her excess luggage. We were initially hesitant but nevertheless agreed. In return, she helped us a lot for the Cambodia trip eg. arranging transport & accom for us in Siem Reap and recommending things-to-do in Cambodia. We are still very grateful to her for that.

Checked into Sunway hotel. A posh, expensive hotel that Nithiya’s uncle accidentally booked.

Some facts:
Cambodia(Popln: 11m)
-blessed with immensely fertile land(rice) and sea(fishes)
-1975 was declared Year Zero for Cambodia.
-the Khmer Rouge regime (1975-1979) headed by Pol Pot (Brother No 1) massacred millions of innocent Cambodians. Pol Pot was a paranoid political monster and brutally massacred Buddhism & ethnic minorities (nearly 1/5 of whole popln killed). He launched military attacks across Thailand, Vietnam & Laos. He was finally overthrown by vietnamese troops who invaded Cambodia.
